From Fundraiser to Social Enterprise
Launched in 2017 as a small fundraising initiative for AAME’s educational programs, the Landscaping Social Enterprise Venture grew into a platform for workforce development and community impact. Rooted in AAME’s mission to empower youth through education and opportunity, it connects entrepreneurship with social good.
Supported by a trades-readiness grant, AAME developed a model that helps fund nonprofit work while building practical skills and confidence among local youth.
Our First Training Class
In spring 2025, AAME hosted its first Landscaping Skills Training Class with six participants. Students received hands-on instruction in landscaping techniques, equipment operation and safety, plus virtual lessons in business and customer service.
For this pilot, AAME provided free transportation, daily meals, a $350 stipend and a certificate of completion. The pilot was made possible by a grant from the State of New Jersey’s Office of Faith-Based Initiatives (OFBI), a partnership we are deeply grateful for.
More than technical skills
AAME combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience. Alongside practical trade skills, participants explore workplace safety, communication, teamwork, punctuality and responsibility, customer service, estimating and pricing, project management, entrepreneurship and basic business practices.
Every path deserves preparation — whether the next step is work, an apprenticeship, further education or entrepreneurship. Our goal is to help participants leave with confidence and direction.
